Douglas A. Pinnow, Ph.D.

Doug PinnowDr. Pinnow (Doug) graduated with distinction from Cornell University as a Bachelor of Engineering Physics. While serving as a Naval Officer and Nuclear Engineer on Admiral Rickover’s staff in Washington, DC, he continued his studies in physics as a NASA Fellow and received a Ph.D.

Doug went on to become a Member of the Technical Staff at Bell Telephone Laboratories in Murray Hill, New Jersey where he served as Supervisor of the Quantum Electronics Group in the Solid State Device Development Laboratory.

After eight years at Bell Labs, Doug became Assistant Manager of the Chemical-Physics Department at the Hughes Research Laboratory in Malibu, California. Four years later, he returned to the East Coast to become Director of R&D at Times Fiber Communications in Wallingford, Connecticut. Subsequently, he joined the Newport Corporation of Costa Mesa, California, as Vice President. He then went on to become the founder and Chief Technical Officer at Electronic Monitoring Systems in Laguna Hills, California.

Doug has also served in a part-time capacity as an adjunct professor at UCLA and developed a graduate course there in the School for Electrical Engineering and Applied Physics on the subject of Fiber Optics.

He has published more than fifty technical papers and has received over 30 patents. He was honored to be selected as a Fellow of the Optical Society of America.
